Is oak bedroom furniture a better option over pine?

Oak and pine are the two most common types of wood that are used to make furniture items. While oak has been in use since centuries, pine is a relatively newer option. Oak belongs to the category of hardwood and pine to the category of softwood. Therefore, the natural appearance and the traits of both these types of wood are extremely different. However, furniture items made of both are ideal for bedrooms. Though many people in the past preferred oak bedroom furniture, pine bedroom furniture is gaining popularity in recent times.

Oak has a naturally rich brown color. Hence, oak bedroom furniture mostly has a shade of dark brown. These furniture items are a preferred choice for homes that have a traditional decor. Once purchased, these furniture items last a lifetime. If you have a bedroom that is painted in light shades, then oak furniture is an ideal choice. However, since these items have a dark shade, they do not reflect light, but absorb it. Therefore, they have a tendency to make these rooms look smaller than they really are and are not recommended if you have limited space in the bedroom.

Pine bedroom furniture is the most popular choice for homes that are designed to suit modern tastes. This wood can be carved into elaborate designs easily which is the reason you have a larger collection of pine furniture instead of oak. Homes that have small bedrooms can benefit from pine furniture because they are light in color and therefore, reflect light instead of absorbing it which makes the room appear bigger. The fact that they are light in weight as compared to the oak counterparts means they are highly portable. Oak bedroom furniture and pine bedroom furniture are highly recommended options. Considering the décor of your home and your budget is important before make a choice between the two.
