Common materials that are used to make outdoor patio furniture

With people giving as much prominence to outdoor spaces as to indoors, there is a growing need for various furniture items to make patios, gardens and pool decks more functional. Furniture manufacturers are working round the clock to come up with various designs using different types of materials to cater to the requirements of the people. Unlike in the past where wrought iron was the main choice for outdoor patio furniture, today there are many more options for people to choose from while buying outdoor garden furniture.

One of the most common materials used to make outdoor patio furniture is wood. There are different types of wood, ranging from teak to pine, that are used to make outdoor garden furniture. In fact, outdoor wooden furniture is highly sought after as compared to furniture items made using other materials. One of the main reasons for this widespread popularity is the affordability of outdoor wooden furniture items. The fact that they are portable is also another contributing factor.

For those who love the rustic charm of the exteriors, wicker outdoor patio furniture is an ideal choice. Outdoor garden furniture made of wicker is low on maintenance and can serve you well for years on end without falling prey to wear and tear easily. Different materials such as rattan, bamboo, cane and many more are used to make wicker furniture items. These items are extremely strong and highly portable since they are light in weight. Though there were only neutral shades available a few years ago, today customers can choose from a wide array of painted outdoor furniture items made of wicker.

Wrought iron outdoor garden furniture is still available, but customers do not opt for it often since it is limited in terms of portability and design. The fact that it needs more care and maintenance as compared to furniture items made using other materials is also a factor that has led to it being sidelined.

  1. I'm not sure if I agree that wrought iron outdoor furniture is being sidelined. In many ways it withstands the element's better than wood, and wicker can sometimes be subject to fading from the sun.

  3. I disagree too - it doesn't bend, chip, stain or fade like wood or wicker. Good quality wrought iron furniture is low maintenance compared to wood which needs to be stained for protection.
